COURSE DESCRIPTION: The course explores theories of how people learn – particularly, adults – and then apply to own learning and to a particular context within which one will be working. The course also discusses the importance of effective communication in an organization and ways to address barriers to it.
COURSE OBJECTIVES: At the end of the course, the students will be able to:
- ADULT LEARNING
- Articulate how adult learning theory inform your own learning
- Demonstrate an ability to critically analyze theories of learning and teaching at the adult level
- Grasp the diversity of development and learning processes among adults
- Discuss the importance of concepts of transformative learning, experiential learning, self- directed learning and andragogy to the current understanding of the characteristics of adult learners
- COMMUNICATION METHODOLOGIES
- Articulate the role of effective communication in an organization
- Differentiate the different types of communication
- Discover the barriers to communication and develop strategies to improve communication
