HERMENEUTICS
Learning to Rightly Interpret God’s Word
How do we faithfully understand and apply the Bible in our lives, ministries, and churches?
Through this course, we will enhance our skills on how to:
Understand the meaning of biblical texts in their proper context (flow of thought, immediate context, historical and social/cultural context, etc)
Understand passages based on their genre—narrative, gospel, prophetic, apocalyptic, poetry, etc.
Apply Scripture faithfully in our lives
EXPECT LIVELY BUT RESPECTFUL DISCUSSIONS on passages about: women in ministry; Israel and the church in the last days; “on this rock I will build my church”; “eat my flesh and drink my blood”; “only the Father knows, the Son and the angels do not”; passages about the second coming from Daniel, Revelation, Isaiah, Zechariah, Ezekiel, the gospels, etc; the proper interpretation and application of psalms and proverbs; spiritual gifts; and much more, Lord willing.
