Ministering to Children and Youth
July 1 – September 2, 2023, Saturdays, 9-12 nn
I. COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course will give you an understanding of the developmental needs of children and youth, as well as the skills you’ll need to effectively minister to them in the context of the church. We will investigate the role of the parents and families in the spiritual formation of children and youth as well as the biblical and theological foundations of ministry to this demographics. Through readings, lectures, and practical exercises you will gain a deeper understanding of the complexities of ministering to children and youth, as well as the skills required to do so with wisdom and integrity. By the end of the course, you will have a greater appreciation for the importance of ministry to children and youth and a clearer understanding of your won approach to this type of ministry and areas for growth.
II. COURSE OBJECTIVES:
- To provide students with an understanding of the developmental needs of children and youth.
- To equip students with the skills necessary to effectively minister to children and youth in the context of the church.
- To explore the role of parents and families in the spiritual formation of children and youth.
- To examine the biblical and theological foundations of ministry to children and youth.
- To encourage students to reflect on their own approach to ministry to children and youth and identify areas for growth.
